Get cracking and creating and learn the art of pique assiette mosaics! You will learn how to nip the pattern on the edges of plates, how to cut the center design from the middle of a plate and use it as a focal point, color placement, how to cut a cup in half and many other tips! Start collecting your old chipped or broken crockery, old jewelry, a favorite dish, embellishments such as china roses,flatback marbles, gems, keys, buttons, coins and other found objects. You should be able to finish 2 projects in this class and learn how to pick the grout color so your piece really "pops"! No experience is necessary, just an open mind and a positive attitude! YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE FUN! but I caution you, mosaicing is ADDICTIVE! You will look at everything in a different way and start mosaicing anything that isn't moving!

The cost for all this fun is $135 (for all 3 classes). Dishes, adhesive and grout will be supplied.

Materials to bring with you --Nippers -- lepponnits from Glasscrafters (379-8333) or The Stained Glass Connection on 41. I highly recommend these as they are very easy to use. You can also get regular nippers at Home Depot but they are very bulky and you will end up getting the lepponitts --- gloves and something to mosaic; frames, mirrors, birdhouses, shelves, terracotta pots, frypans (yes, frypans) teapots and anything wood or metal.

Grouting Day

Today was the final step in the mosaicing process. Everyone "framed" their masterpieces with handtinted grout and much fun was had by all in testing the different colors on the pieces to see which color made their pieces "pop"! Below are pictures of the newest Mosaic Artists in Sarasota;
